Often the electronic actuator fails prematurely on some Holset turbochargers and all that is needed is a new replacement Holset actuator.
If you doubt your VGT system is failing on your Holset turbo you can bring in your truck to a dealership or shop and have them test the actuator with the proper scanning device.
Most of the times you can CAREFULLY remove the actuator from the turbo and manually move the actuator arm/lever. If the arm will not move with ease then it is safe to say that there is internal damage. If the arm moves freely/easily then most likely it is the actuator that is at fault.
Prior to placing an order please contact us with the year and model of the vehicle, to ensure you receive the proper actuator, as there are two variants. Older models have the harness built into the actuator, newer models simply have a plug on the actuator for the harness to plug into.
We can supply you with a new actuator for you to install but the ACTUATOR WILL NEED TO BE CALIBRATED with a Snap On scanner or other device. Driving without calibration may result in damage to the actuator or the turbo.
